Following the entry into force on July 1 this year of California's online sales tax, and the company’s attempt to arrange a referendum in the state for its repeal, Amazon has made a further move to obtain a reprieve from the new tax for a period of three years.

Analysing consumer behaviour and the interaction between consumers and businesses in the digital environment, a study requested by the Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection of the European Parliament identifies a number of barriers to e-commerce and a more integrated European digital market.
