The United States Trade Representative has confirmed that the Administration
is committed to boosting trade with African nations through the African Growth
and Opportunity Act and, in that respect, renewal of its Third-Country
Fabric provision is seen as crucial.
A delegation of MEPs from the European Parliament has recently held a consultative
meeting in Lusaka, Zambia, with the Chair of the Eastern and Southern Africa group of countries to discuss their Economic Partnership Agreement negotiations
with the European Union.

exchange of letters, 60% of imports from 26 of Africa’s least developed
countries are duty free with effect from July 1, 2010.
The African Development Bank, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and
Development, and the UN Economic Commission for Africa, have published a joint report focusing in particular on the continent’s
fiscal resilience to the financial crisis, and an analysis of appropriate tax policy going
forward.
